Why Fun Runs Matter

Posted by Tim Irvine on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, In : Miles To Go

Before you had kids, if you have them, you ran races on any given weekend and always looked for another one to go run. We've all been there. But once you started to expand the family; planning your races became a little more strategic. Once the kids graduated from the stroller, then it almost got a little harder. Road Running Safety

Getting your run on is pretty important. A lot of runners venture to the park and walking trails and tracks. For the rest of us, we like the open road. I remember as a kid I ran like I was bullet proof and had no fear of being run over. Wisdom comes with age and like many runners, I woke up to the realities that await us on the open road. Many of my runs long ago were timed this way and GPS watches simply weren't available. Which normally mean the miles in my ...

The Race Within The Race

Posted by Tim Irvine on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, In : Miles To Go

Ever notice the mother or dad pushing a stroller at a race? That's dedication. Dedication to being there, and dedication to bringing your new child or children to meet your passion. Once I was in a race and I was on the 2nd row behind the "fast people". I couldn't help but notice a woman with a stroller next to me, and my initial reaction was, "right". That quickly changed over to, "I can't let her beat me" after a mile into the race. I was impressed that she was running a pretty go...
